Before leaving for vacation

Before leaving for vacation, secure your home well
The police have given advice to people who are preparing to leave for their holidays. Many burglaries also occur during the holidays.

SAFE ON VACATION:
Before leaving for vacation make sure that the doors and windows of your home are well secured.
Inform only relatives, friends or neighbors you trust about your absence, so they can keep an eye on your house, and, if there are particularly serious reasons, the police department in your area.
Do not leave notes about when you will return or how long you will be away.
Do not leave messages outside the door or mailboxes overflowing with leaflets and magazines on the landing. They give away your absence. Also avoid leaving ladders, furniture or other bulky things in your garden, which could help a would-be burglar climb in.
Do not let the house or apartment look “completely closed”, as this indicates your absence.
Install, if possible, an automatic lighting timer.
Activate the alarm system, if you have one.
Do not leave large amounts of money or valuables in your home.
If neighbors, friends or relatives inform you that they have noticed something suspicious at your house, do not hesitate to notify the “100” or the police station in your area.
In case of theft notify the “100” or the Security Department in your area.
